Portable power packs for scopes beware!
I got a message from another club member inquiring about these. And through my own experience I felt it worthy to post this up on the main boards just in case others get caught. Be VERY careful with these 'PORTABLE' ! I am on my second in as many years. They are totally unsuitable for scopes!!! Even...

May Bank Holliday Weekend Observing?
Just throwing this one out there Dave.. WEATHER PERMITTING,... Is anyone up for an observing session this (may bank holiday) weekend at the Burren? I'd be able to go Saturday & bring the club's 12'' Dob for the members without scopes. (If you do have a scope, no matter how small you should br...

Great Observing Site Located!
Hi all. Just a quick note to say the club has located a really excellent dark sky (mag 7!) observing site in the Burren. 50 Min drive from Ivans cross, the site is the large gravel car park for the Poulanabron Dolmen in the Burren. It's actually quite easy to get there. Contact Dave, our Observing D...

Shots from the Burren
Well I finally made it down to the Burren last night. All I can say is, I have no clue as to why I never went before! It's only 40 min from my house and the skies? Forget about it! Best I've seen. So anyway, I ran off a few starscape shots with the Dolmen in the foreground. (here is a speal about t...

ISS intersects Mars
Maybe it was the Uniflu or the hot toddy but something got me out of my sick bed to go take this shot. (there is a funny story behind it involving a bull) Taken over Shannon airport and the estuary you can just about make out. 10 seconds, ISO 400 AV 5.5 12 - 24mm lens at 12mm F4. No processing done....

I Didn't get much free time for astrophotography in NCY last week (due to the Paddys Day festivities  ) but I did manage to catch the full Moon on Friday night at least. http://www.frank...
