Thanks John.
It's something I've been meaning to get back into for a very long while.
I think people often underestimate the importance of sketching as a
tool for observation.
I know I kinda yawn sometimes when I see drawings posted up on the web.
It's a different game to photography for sure!

Well, the scope could be brought back to 100% easily enough as it is. The timber is still sound even after all the abuse it's gotten. I very surprised how well it's held up! All it really needs is a good cleaning and some preservative. The most important thing I'm sure you'll agree is re-coating the...

Another great night is right! The biggest thrill of the night was to actually see that pesky central star! Cheers again Dave for allowing us all to have a look through the 20''! I brought up the clubs 20'' dob on the night. The mirror unfortunately was in a pathetic state after being left in neglect...

(Sorry Dave I accidentally deleted your post while grabbing the quote) Lads, it's in the links section under 'Useful Software' http://www.shannonsideastronomy.com/links.htm I'm thinking...

What can I say. Probably the best night ever. No.. Defiantly. I nearly fell off the ladder with awe looking at the Veil through the Obsessinator! It reminded me of the Nexus from Star Trek! I've never seen the Milky Way as clear from Ireland. It was horizon to horizon and totally obvious.... I...

Great story Con! Sounds like it was a great night. I have to say, if it was an Iridium flare then you by accident saw what I have been trying to predict for ages! I set myself a challenge last year to take a long exposure shot of the ISS and to also get an Iridium flare in the frame. I usually check...
