As far as I know John, it isnt a club member, I´d be wary of ebay anyway, astromart is the one to go for.

I'm not sure, I certainly felt that the image was very sharp and the background was well dark, I suppose a side by side scope comparison is in order.

I had a look at Saturn through this 10" scope and was impressed by the image, definitely a different look about it compared to the "normal" SCT.

Tell you what, the 2 meetings in mid summer are open meetings, one can easily be turned into an image capture and registax processing talk, very easy, or use one of the talk slots between now and then if the speaker doesn't show. I can bring in the 4 inch refractor, webcam and using the club laptop ...

Very nice Conn, I'd say you nailed that image well, how many frames did you use, I think if you could use more frames it would be less noisy. Going on that image Id' say your registax skills are well there. The tutorial I put together was built from watching Cor Berrevoet himself (program writer) an...

Hi Conn, There is substantial difference in the size of the FOV there, worth thr effort I think. A pity about the moon not fitting in. One thing you might try is putting the focal reducer right onto the back of the scope and put the camera directly onto it, so removing the micro focuser from the sys...

Not a bad start at all there Conn.
Looks like there is a slight tracking error, still thats a good visual representation of the nebula.

Hi Conn,
They are jsut some internal reflections within the scope, not much you can do about it really, next time try putting Sirius in the middle of the FOV, that way they reflections will be in the center with the star.
Were you using the focal reducer at the time ?

Yes this Rayleigh scattering on Saturn is amazing when you consider whats going on. In the northern hemisphere (bottom in the above images), the dense yellow clouds have sunk towards the planet leaving a clear transparent atmosphere of hydroden above them, enough of a transparent atmosphere to gener...

I had a look at the L. Leader and they gave the article and images a great slot, fair play to them. Perfect publicity for the eclipse and club. If I get any images, I'll forward them on to you ASAP, although the weather might be working against us. BTW, did you ask them why they dropped the club log...

Hey John, It works pretty well, the occasional gust does wobble the scope slightly especially with the shroud on, there is absolutely no way we could do this level of imaging without the drive system. The azimuth slow motion is bang on, there is a small lag in the altitude adjustment, I suppose I'll...

No problem Conn, it is amazing how much the rings have deminished.

I went back and tried to upscale the image abit, I couldn't quite get 2x out of it without getting alot of graininess, but 1.5 actually worked out not too bad.
