Re: An ALMOST solar eclipse, 20th March 2015

Looks like a good location, I'm abit torn between been as far north west as possible and then having to look east for it, the location you picked is as good a horizon as your going to get without going to the east antrim coast, but wow is that a long journey, never thought I'd be north of Carndonagh...

Re: An ALMOST solar eclipse, 20th March 2015

Yea, the North cost is littered with hotels, accommodation is not going to be a problem, what will be a problem will be the decision to go or stay put, a critical decision. You could go up to the Giant's Causeway , but to be honest I'm not sure I want to be that far east, aren't there some fab cliff...

Re: Moon Occults Saturn Oct 25th 2014

ok, I had a look at starrynight and I pinned down some times for this. The occultation starts at 4.53.53pm on Saturday the 25th of october, the moon fully obscures the planet+rings by 4.55.10pm, so it takes the Moon 1 minute 17 seconds to cross the planet, the entire things happens at an altitude of...

solar activity

Watch out for potential solar activity in the coming week, one of the biggest sunspots of this solar maximum has just appeared on the limb of the sun, you never know but if it fires a big flare in our direction, then it could be spectacular

Tbh I wouldn't fancy lahinch. Too far for me.
Wouldn't somewhere on gallows hill be good for this?
What time is sunset and what time is this setting, also isn't that comet passing by Mars this weekend, some people are going to try view it apparently, I think that's going to be a tough one tbh

An ALMOST solar eclipse, 20th March 2015

Hi All, As I'm sure some of you know by now, there is a total solar eclipse crossing the Atlantic on March 20th, 2015. With our typical luck in this country, were just off the totality path, some are going up on planes or going to Faroe or Svalbard for it, fair play to them. For those who are stayin...

Intes MK-67 Telescope , 6" Maksutov

I'm selling my Intes MK-67, it's a 6" F/12 Maksutov gauranteed at 1/8 wave accurate optics. I'm selling cos I've got bigger scopes so this scope never gets used. Here's what this scopes comes with, Bobknobs collimation bolts (fitted) Padded carry bag (fits airline luggage carry-on size restrictions)...
