Re: Registax tutorial

Dave, Thanks very much for taking the trouble post this. I made a few AVI files of a young Moon in a bright sky a few weeks ago. I will give this a go and see how I get on.

Re: THE SUN'S AWAKE !!!

Smashing image Dave, I am using a Mac 21.5" desktop and it looks really sharp to me. I don't remember seeing a recent image of the Sun with 6/7 distinct sunspot groups. Great capture.

Re: An ALMOST solar eclipse, 20th March 2015

Dick Ahlstrom (Science Editor -- Irish Times) included SAC's public event at The Stone Circle, Grange, Co. Limerick on a list of 'Organised Events'. See P.3 on 19th March edition.

Re: Comet Lovejoy

Frank, like yourself I have been at the ready to try to observe Comet Lovejoy over the last while but always stymied by the weather. It is interesting that it reminds you of Comet Holmes and I look forward to seeing any images that you have captured.

Jerry, I forgot to mention that there are locks on the castors on my telescope dolly but from my experience of using it I found that with the castor locks on that if you bumped against the scope it could still move by pivoting on the castor struts if you know what I mean. This movement is significan...

Telescope moving dolly

Jerry, When we were at the Burren last saturday night we were discussing the problems/dangers of setting up a heavy telescope for observing. Here is a link to an image of the dolly I am using for the Meade 10" : www.pulsar-optical.co.uk/prod/AC091.html As you can see the 3 legs are telescopic (no pu...

About to buy a digital SLR camera?

Just got the Harvey Norman 'The Big Sale' flyer. They have a Canon EOS 1100D Digital SLR camera with an 18-55mm lens for €379. It seems to come with a 'Bonus .. training course worth €150'. I am not up to date on prices elsewhere but this seems like good value. Might be of interest to someone on the...

I have a load of these castors (with the little lock) in my garage, exactly like the image you have posted here and I will gladly donate them if they are suitable.

Astronomy magazine

I have a spare copy of the February 2013 issue of Astronomy Now magazine. It is available to the first club member (fully paid up of course  ) to ask for it. I can bring it to next meeting.

Dave, Thanks for the info on the ISS tracking. It sounds tricky enough and quite challenging but clearly is very rewarding. Just wondering is it possible to get any detail by tracking any other satellites? I imagine their orbits are too far out.

Dave, nice work there with this collection of images. Re Jupiter image ... I see two dots to the left but nothing to the right. And interestingly the nearest dot on the left is a distinctive green/blue color (aquamarine?). What interests me is how you managed to capture two moons given the very smal...
