Observing Saturday 14th at Lough Gur

Weather permitting We hope to go observing at Lough Gur car park tonight Saturday 14th March.
As the weather changes hourly in this country,
All we can do is hope it clears fully for tonight
Current forecasts are positive.

Re: observing Friday night 13th in lg?

Cool John.
Last night (Friday) we couldn't guarantee the light would be off.
Tonight it should be.
I'm going to start a new thread for tonight, Saturday.

Re: An ALMOST solar eclipse, 20th March 2015

Have you calculated the difference in solar disc coverage between Mayo & Malin (and Lough Gur)
It'd be interesting to see the differences visually.
You'll not be at lough Gur then?

Re: Spacefest 2016

I wonder what the plan would be for 2017 in terms of them maybe
running it around the time of the Eclipse. May be able to kill 2 birds with one stone.
Might hold off on this and get more info from Nick.

Spacefest 2016

Having spoken to Nick Howes about this at the Galway Astrofest (he's one of the organisers) I am 100% going to Tucson for this next year. http://www.spacefest.info/?page_id=5142 The event sounds incredible (the website although very cool can't compare to Nicks description and stories of it). I'm thr...

Re: 2015 Galway Astrofest

It is indeed. These kinds of events are great for actually talking to people.
I found the whole event refreshingly 'Ego-Free'.
Ronan and the lads in the GAC did a superb job and to be fair, it's all due to Ronan's effort.
Organising and running these events is ALL consuming. Kudos to him.

Re: 2015 Galway Astrofest

Had a great time at the event.
It was nice to catch up with everyone and to see
A good turn out from Shannonside Astronomy Club.
The talks were very good and the dinner was great fun.
Thanks Dave for the spin up and back.
I'll drive next year!

WOW. I've got to say I'm shocked.
Fair play to them. We're sorted so for glasses for the eclipse. Sweet.
Will the be bringing them to Galway do you know?
