Perfect!!, I was thinking the same thing. The Dolman site just isnt working out, more often then not we're getting cought with cloud up there and now the bloody fog! We need options, I'm game for hunting when you are! Agreed. The Dolmen car park is a bit of a disaster. The last four times I have go...

That would be a nice scope. A 10" dob would show you more than you could see in a lifetime. Its a fairly big scope though and would take some lifting so this needs to be born in mind. An 8" is a good compromise if it needs to be transported any distance. With your budget, an 8" dob and 2 or 3 decent...

Welcome to the SAC forums Rachael !
Feel free to post any astronomy related questions on these boards. We are a pretty relaxed and friendly bunch so don't be afraid to ask questions. There are a few members in and around the Corbally area so you are not alone.

Sure..., why not. Moon will be out though. After the weather we have just had even a full moon will be a pleasant sight.

Hi Jonathan Welcome to the SAC forums. The Omni 150 xlt would be a fine starter scope. See the review on cloudy nights below http://www.cloudynights.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/3127105/Main/3124766 Do shop around when buying though to get the best deal. Have a look at www.telescope-serv...

IFAS astrophotography course

Anyone thinking of attending this course on the 14th November in Dunsink? There are only twenty places available.

Did anyone make it out last night. I left the house at 7.40pm to head down. It was clear where I was but the city looked clouded out. I didn't make it to the end of the road before it started raining. Turned around and went back to a nice warm (and dry) house.
We must be mad :?

NGC 281 The Pacman nebula

After my second night attempting to image this I finally managed to get some type of picture before the mist rolled in again. Two hours setting up the mount, unknown tracking errors, a slipping tripod screw and finally the haze :x I managed to get 60 minutes of exposure although I wanted about 2.5 h...
