Hi All,
I know I should have said this more vigorisly in the last meeting, but I really need to step down from the observing director position. I'm done with it, and someone else can breath in fresh life to it, revamp it and do it whatever way that would suit them.
If there is anyone who wants the position, they can say it in the next meeting, get nominated and seconded and all that, have it done officially.
My apologies for not bringing it up in the agm, believe it or not, it completely slipped my mind. as stupid as that sounds.
If no one else can do it, then we'll have to work out some other arrangements, reorganise the club meeting into some other completely different format or something that doesnt involve/require it.
This is not me doing a drop and run scenario,I'll do it for the next few months if need be till we sort something out,
but frankly, Ive done this in 10 out of the last 12 years, and I need a break from it, it is not enjoyable anymore for me, and infact in recent times has turned into something I dont look forward to at all.
time for change, observing director job up for grabs,

Carrying around my 20" obsession is going to kill me, but what a way to go.

If it's loosingits fun then it's time for a break for sure.
What exactly are you handing over?
The job of calling the observing sessions or the
'what's up for X month' in the meetings?
It's good you want to get some new blood into the role.
I know I found it a little odd taking such a big step back from
the committee side of things having been almost too active
for years but it's good for the club to get new blood in and
circulating.

hey Frank,
well, the directors role is the whats up this month talk and the observing texting/organising, so it up for grabs or abolishment.
You did it for 2 years and did a great job.
and youre right, it'll put me in unfamiar territory not doing it anymore,
but BTH, the way it has gone the past year or so makes me not want to do it anymore, it has become uncomfortable.
so I'm gone from it come a few months time or next month.
I made up this role back in the late 90s, before then, someone would stand up for 10 mins and give a speach about whats happening this month, it was difficult and wasnt encouraging people to go out observing as a picture or animation paints a million words. I did it to try and build up an observing base of people as back then there was no observing going on. however the new person wants to do it is up to them.
anyway, Finding the right person for it is going to be hard, someone who's not shy, knows what theyre talking about, not a spoofer/b-s'er and ultimately wants to do it, a tough to find combination.
well, we'll see.

Hmmm...
I've seen a few presentations done here at work and there is an open
style to them and was thinking that there may be a way to apply the
style to the club somehow as it get's people involved without making them nervous or embarassed...
I'll come back to you on it...
let me have a think about how it could be done...
maybe it would work...

you see, this is exactly the kind of new thinking we need, I never liked the classroom feel to the whole thing.
you think about it and ponder what you think might work.
