THE SUN'S AWAKE !!!

Post by Dave Lillis » Sun Apr 19, 2015 5:35 pm

Given recent aurora, I had a look at the Sun today and wow is it active, lots of sunspot activity and faculae going on there, so I dusted off the canon and got some shots, this was the best of them,
Get back out your solar filters, the ones you were going to use in the recent solar eclipse ;), you wont be disappointing

Very nice Dave. I assume you used your thousand oaks filter to take this?

yes, this is the one I was going to use at the eclipse last month, ah well.....

btw, a typical lcd screen might show some wierd layering in the suns disk colour wiht this image, you're better off seeing this form a good auld fashioned CRT monitor or a high quality lcd screen

Smashing image Dave, I am using a Mac 21.5" desktop and it looks really sharp to me. I don't remember seeing a recent image of the Sun with 6/7 distinct sunspot groups. Great capture.
