Sunset in Mallorca, no green flash though

Post by Dave Lillis » Mon Mar 24, 2008 3:49 pm

Well Lads,
I was away last week in Mallorca, where the sky is blue and not much clouds were to be seen.
I had the opportunity to get some good sunsets there and tried getting the green flash but it just wasnt happening for me, here are some pics.

The sun was literally on the sea horizon there but no green flash. It was gone about a second after this shot, it was cool to be able to see the sun moving with the naked eye as it disappeared below the blue sea.

While there, we had a good look at the night sky , and it was great to see Orion so high, Mars was practically overhead. Usually I don't get to see the winter constellations when I'm abroad as it is usually in the summer.
Enjoy.

Dave,
good on you to see you posting here,
it livens up the SAC page no end..

Pity there was no green flash.
I wonder what causes it?

Nice pics all the same...
I can nearly feel the warm breeze and the
smell of the local restaurants....
aaaahhhh!
