M97 Owl Nebula

Post by John O'Mahony » Tue Apr 14, 2009 6:29 pm

Here is my attempt last night at the Owl nebula M97.
4 x 90 second frames, CLS filter, Canon 450D at F6.3 stacked in DSS at Iso 800.

Hi John,
Again a nice image, is there any autoguiding been used?
Seems like the tracking is very slightly off, or have you programmed the PEC on the drive yet ?

Hi Dave

The images are unguided with a rough polar alignment (hence the trailing). I haven't played with the PEC yet.

Still, thats a grand image for the work put into it,
The PEC is something you will have to give a run though to get rid of the line stars, PEC is the curse of many an astrophotographer.
I'd bet the polar allignment errors are less of an issue.
