Club h-alpha telescope

Post by Dave Lillis » Mon Apr 23, 2012 9:04 am

Guys,
There has been alot of talk in recent times that the club should try and get a h-alpha telescope, well, I'm totally in favour of this venture, its just a matter of how we raise the funds.
Its a solar scope we can use at daytime public/school events, it would take alot of pressure off the club to do nighttime school events, which are difficult to organize.
While at cosmos, I saw a h-alpha solution which gives great images,
Basically what we need to get is a SM90 filter and a BF15 diagonal, I have a scope that they'll fit on.
Another solution would be a complete solarmax scope, but would cost more.

I dont mind how we do it, so long as we end up with a super scope.

Roy and I have been discussing ways of raising funds, if it works we'll be sorted.

I'm going to do up a few sheets
on the Halpha filter and bf15 diagonal...
Try and get the best price possible
and then try hitting the right people
with a proposal for full funding for
what we need.... Finger crossed

Cheers Roy :D :D

now this is only if we can somehow raise the funds,
I'm not sure we can risk clearing out our current bank totals for this, not that we can currently afford it anyway.

our hopes are with you Roy :o :)

I'm under the opinion that
He can either say YES or NO...
If he says No we're worse off,
But if he says Yes then we're laughing..

Cheers Roy :D :D
