Help with a telrad / laser pointer set up

Post by Frank Ryan » Wed Nov 12, 2008 7:10 pm

I'm trying out a new set up and I ned a bit of help with regards to a viewfinder.
Dave, I know you recently got one for the club scope so maybe you'd have a suggestion?

Basically, I want to mount something onto the tube of my ETX125 OTA.
There is still the LNT part on the tube.
I was going to power that with a small battery but I've always found the red dot finder projected onto the bit of plastic very fiddly and it actually fogs in seconds.
So I'm going to remove it.
I'd like a telrad truth be told.

Any ideas?

Here is the setup..

Frank

Telrads are great. I hardly ever use my 50mm finderscopes anymore and they are great for pickng out alignment stars. You will need a dew shield with them. I have a dew heater which works well and uses very little power. They are bulky though. You could also try

Hey Frank,
Like John says, telrad is the job for you.
I had a 8x50 finder on the 20" but removed it as the telrad was getting all the use.

Carrying around my 20" obsession is going to kill me, but what a way to go. :)
