We neednt get form these sources, but I am keen to try and have one before the April observing sessions.

Nope.
I could I suppose but don't have any spare time to do it.
Did ye consider putting up a wanted ad in the fourms?

Its such a specialised piece of gear, but hey, I'll throw one up on the ifas site and see what we get.

Thinking about it, it looks handy enough to
make out of timber.
I've a spare ETX premier field tripod that
Could be modified...
let me think about this a wee bit..
I'll be building a fence in the next few weeks
with Terrys dad who is a carpenter by trade..
I could show him some sketches..
is there a timber one anywhere on the web have u seen?

no, but really we need to move on this in the next week or so if we want this for the start of April.
All good deeds aside Frank, I'd feel alot better getting one from a shop.

Didn't we already approve getting a parallelogram mount at a committee last year?
It would definitely be nice to have for the public observing

Dave, that last link you gave to the english site are only selling the mount without the tripod, seems expensive because of that.

Cheers,
Gordon

We did indeed Gordon, and youre right about that mount.

I asked on the ifas boards and was given a link to this
http://www.telescope-service.com/tripod ... #Binomount
Its a bit expensive but is a complete system, and I like it.
Right, I think Stephen has the Binos, I need the model number of him, if youre here Stephen, can you put it uphere in a reply.[/url]

right lads, got a big problem,
The guys tell me in telescope services that their mount cannot handle the weight of the binoculars. Same for the orion mount !!
Also, the mount in peterson engineering is a no go aswell.
We're running out of cheaper options here.

I dont like the virgo mount as alot of the mount is below the binos, where your head would be if looking high up.

The unimount is a fine looking mount as it put the tripod and mount to the side of the binos, so basically you can get in under them.
I've sent an email to bigbinoculars.com to see what would the shipping cost would be. We're looking at 406e for the mount with some small extras with it.

what do ye think, can anyone find this mount in europe ??
(forget scs astro, their prices are truely astronomical!!)

I do.
A mate of mine works as an engineer
for speedline engineering.
he'd knock it up for us as long as we
gave him decent specs.
Mates rates.
