Roy,
have you seen
http://www.irishastronomy.org/index.php ... d=40#89080
its a good price and you could probably knock it down more, I'd be willing to acess the scope with you if you were interested if you like.
Its not a refined design and you might probabily have to get out the jigsaw cutter to get rid of excess weight

review

http://www.meade.com/manuals/TelescopeM ... bridge.pdf
its main drawback is the weight and that you'd need a servocat junior or JMI Train and Track system to goto-ise it.

Looks like the one he got is frought with problems.
Maybe a case of manufacturer biting off
more than they can chew.
Does Obsession go this big?

nope, they did a handfull of 30"s but discontinued them, and to quote kreige
"they nearly killed my staff".
Whats in this review is a pity, Ive heard good things about keneddy mirrors, this guys was about one full wave accurate, thats complete crap, chemist shop quality, you wouldnt see that in a tasco scope.
and christ, did you read about the "mods" he had to do to the scope itself, no bloody way would I put up with that in a new from the manufacturer scope, makes me appreciate the obsessionator more.

All the same what an excellent review, so many of them out there glow with too much praise, suffer from "its super cos I own it-itis" although its usually easy to pick them out.

For me, any gear I have is out the door as soon as something better comes along for an equivilant price, those ethos's are getting cheaper by the month on astromart 8)
I'm considering selling the 14mm, 20mm or 26mm and getting 2 ethos's instead, maybe.

ya know, while pricing up new eyepieces I found this review which reminded me of the device
http://www.scopereviews.com/page3e.html
the Collins I3, an expensive device but gives you a 2-3x aperture boost, so I'm going to put the new eyepiece idea aside and concentrate on this thing.
I think everyone one there should own one, the pros/cons at the end of the review sum it up perfectly. :)

Yeah I gotta build a bigger shed

You'd needs the whole other side of
the carpark for yourself with that thing..

Cheers Roy :D :D
