Great Observing Site Located!
Hi all.
Just a quick note to say the club has located a really excellent
dark sky (mag 7!) observing site in the Burren.
50 Min drive from Ivans cross, the site is the large gravel car park for the
Poulanabron Dolmen in the Burren.
It's actually quite easy to get there.
Contact Dave, our Observing Director for more info

Its a fab dark site, we use it abit for SAC observing session.
It has a flat horison and almost no light pollution.

No worries Don!
there is always next year.
MORE IMPORTANTLY!
- the new site is awesome!!
I just put up a few pics of it on the observing page on the SAC site,
Have you a scope at the moment?

Dave taking his scope out of his new jeep

The site is pretty high also - not sure of the exact altitude but it's above
sea level and if you look at this shot you can see fog all around.
There is some sky glow to the North from Galway and a close house with a
security light but it really does not effect.
As good as you'll get in this country for sure.

I actually thought the second pic was in daytime, until I saw the stars, its amazing what the moon can do to the surroundings.
