Lunar Occulation of Jupiter

Hey Guys...

Just throwing it out there, but the
Lunar occulation of Jupiter takes place
on July 15th from 2:45am..

Its not going to be a full occulation
but more of a glancing pass from
Ireland but still a very close pass
at about 0*01 degrees from the outer
edge of the Moon..

I was wondering if the club was thinking
of doing anything? It might turn out to
be another storm chasing moment, but I think
we should give it a try..

Cheers Roy :D :D

Sunrise at 2.45 am? Wha?
I'd be up for it, even if it was just a very close conjunction.
It'd need to be in a FOV of a decent eyepiece though....
As for storm chasing. Screw that.
Pick a place and watch the weather forecast.
If it was going to be clear then I'd happily go out and have a gawk.
Look for some NLC too.

Ya I'm with you Frank...
Although its not a full
Occulation its still a very
Close pass, and something I
wouldn't mind trying to catch..
I reckon a 24mm up would give u
both items clearly in the FOV...

OK Guys...

Just had a look at Accuweather for
Saturday and Sunday 14th-15th July
and it has it down for clear skies from
Saturday night too Sunday morning...
I know they get it wrong a lot of the time
but its a straw to grasp at..

3 weeks hollidays!! Yahoo!!!
I am on my knees to the weather gods!!!
We're gonna need a good horizon for this one too. Any suggestions?

Btw
The weather does not look good.
It looks like it'll swing to a NW airflow (cold artic air)
On sat so it'd be a mix of bright but showers and feeling cold.

well, I really wanna try out tountinna mountain again, tbh its either that or the burren. we need a good eastern horizon.
Like you say Frank, the weather is looking poor for it, they're currently saying sunny spells and showers for Saturday and early Sunday,. so that to mean broken cloud, we'll see how it is on Saturday afternoon i guess.
