Well,
hopefully visible!
The first star will be occulted in twilight
but worth the effort to observe all the same.
The two stars are 37Tau & 39Tau.

Here are the details and timings of the occultations they occur:

37Tau - Ingress @ 20:07:46

39Tau - Ingress @ 20:37:38

37Tau - Reappearance @ 21:07:36

39Tau - Reappearance @ 21:18:32

Best of luck any who attempt to observe this.
No doubt the club will be making an effort to get together to
see this rare occultation.
Sound off here if your interested.

Well I'm up for that...
But thats the night of
the April meeting.......
Do we want to make it
an observing session instead???????
I dont mind giving my talk in May.....
After all isn't this what an Astronomy club
should be doing, looking for moments like
this and trying to catch em.....
Dave that'll give us the chance we need
to put the Bino's and Mount to the test..

So ya, an observing session gets my vote.

Cheers Roy :D :D

well ok,
How about we go for the observing session idea, we'll know hours before hand what's happening with the weather.
If the weather is crap, could you (Roy) do the talk as planned.
No point standing under clouds.
If we're going to do this, we'll need to send out texts alerting people to bring their scopes.

Yah, no problem I'll have
my talk ready to go should the
weather be bad...
Log onto Accuweather
and take a look at April 7th....
Think the Gods are smiling on us..

Right so, I'll bring the club 10''
Conan, I wonder are your able to bring the 12''?
I know your busy studying at the moment.

Your right Dave.
We have to tell people that they NEED to brign thier scopes for this.
It's such a fast event.

How about I bring in my observing table & set up the 10''
with my webcam and show it live on the club laptop for people that don't have a scope?

The webcam sounds ideal, it gives everyone a chance to see the occultation
not just the person at the eyepiece.

yea, good idea Frank, the laptop can well do it,. I'll make sure its charged.
People need to bring what they can, this is a sub second event, there can be no sharing the eyepiece view as its sooo fast,
Is the weather forecast accurate that far into the future ??

Pay no attention to the early morning
weather I was assured by Fergal
that it will be all clear by midafternoon
and definitely be clear by this evening...

On a different note
check out page 10 of
the limerick post....

Got a few glimpses of the Moon through broken cloud, good for testing the binos and new mount, hopefully we'll have better luck next time.
