observing last weekend

Post by Dave Lillis » Wed Dec 21, 2011 11:50 pm

Hey all.
Last saturday night I was out for a few hours till 1am with Roy in the observatory.
We got in alot of good double star and tested his new uhc filter on the orion nebula, we also tracked down some good open clusters and Jupiter.
It got cold and had ice forming on the inside of the dome walls.
We had a 10 minute rain shower in the middle of it all, we closed the shutters till it passed over, the rained cleaned out the atmosphere and we had a good dark sky from midnight on.

@Roy, I got the pc working fine again, it looks like one of the pci cards got abit loose and was stopping all the cards, now sorted and I've re-collimated the binoviewers. I did a few dry runs of running the scope off the computer and its fine now, so the next clear night we get, we should be ok for some good satellite tracking.
