Scopes at Mary I on Monday for course

Post by Frank Ryan » Thu Jan 20, 2011 11:41 am

Request from Mary I.
As part of one of thier own courses
there is an astronomy module.
We have been asked would we
be available to be part of the observation
side of it on Next Monday evening.
30 (adult) students will be attending
and 4 scopes if possible would be ideal
for viewing the Moon & Jupiter.
This course is not associated with any
other club and is totally inhouse.
Suggested viewing locayion is the bavk field as before.
Can anyone interested in being available with a scope please sound off here.

thanks

Dear Frank,
On one of our course we are having a lecture on astronomy and we are hoping to allow the students to look at some star, planets, etc with telescopes. I was wondering would it be possible to get some people from your society to come to the college on  next Monday evening at 5pm to set up telescopes to allow the students have this experience. We have 30 students on the course.
Thank you for taking the time to read this mail and I am sorry for the lateness of this request.
Feel free to contact me at any time

Regards,
Maurice

Will I take it so nobody can make this?
I'll need to let him know tomorrow morning.

Thanks Roy.

I've declined the invite:

Good morning Maurice.
I've asked the lads on the committee is there anyone free to do this but nobody is.
We all work and the timing is awkward.
Also, aside from the weather not being forcast for clear skies, it's quite early anyway and maybe just a little too bright.
Might I suggest, a pair of binoculars pointed at Jupiter, this will show the planet & the 4 moons.
The moon is not rising untill much later so there would be not much more on offer I'm afraid.

Sorry again.
Keep us in mind next time and with a bit more notice we can accomadate.

Kind Regards
Frank.
