SAC 25 years old today

I heard Dave mention that SAC was founded in 1986 and wondered what was the actual date. It is on the home page and happens to be today the 6th February 1986 ... here's to another 25 years.
I am sure it is not the oldest astronomy club/society in Ireland but it must be up there.

In that case we should celebrate with a good nights viewing in the burren tomorrow(weather permitting) so lets get on to as many members as possible and lets make it a special viewing night.

Great catch Conn, didnt notice that.
As far as I know the IAS formed in the 1930s and the IAA sometime in the 1970s, so that makes us 3rd oldest.

Keep an eye on the wind speed
for tonight.
its pretty strong now and if its
like that here (especially any N wind)
ye will be blown out of it up there.

yip, i was thinking that, the wind looks strong, and the clouds patches could be a problem aswell, when heavy cloiuds come it tends to rain, so we'll have to keep an eye out for them.
maybe we'll go to the lake.

actually, judging by the isobar map
for the northatlantic chart the winds
may ease off if it swings southerly.
guess ye will find out tonight...
