Okay Guys..

Can we stop concentrating on the roof
for a moment it was only a suggestion and nothing
more, as for the site itself, it has good solid ground
with which to set up our scope it also has a nice flat horizon
looking all direction..

So lets just forget that I ever mentioned the roof..
It is very high risk and totally out, it was only suggested to
me by the Club Chairman as a possibility.

If it looks like I'm pushing for the Shannon RFC site I'm not,
Its just I believe it has a slight advantage over tescos carpark.
But if we still want to go with Tescos I'm good for that.

Cheers Roy :D :D

Yah I'm with you Dave
Roof gets my vote, Damn health and safety.. Lol
All joking aside the place is ideal
but I'm open for any of the 2..
The only reason I need to know
which place we will be doing this
is because I need to arrange the keys..

Cheers Roy :-) :-)

Hi Folks,
Can you clarify the following.

Where are we actually going, date, time, obs site. ?.

Do I need to bring the club 300Dob. ?.

I understand its open to all club members, but are
we inviting members of the public as well, ?.

Regards, Jerry.

With reference to the Coonagh site and looking at Roy's coordinates, is the N18 a problem?

If it's about the lighting on
the N18 I can't see how it
would be worse than tescos..
As for observing it has a nice flat
Western horizon..

As I said earlier I don't mind which
site we use so long as we have clear skies
and a clear view, after all thats what it's all about.

Cheers Roy :-) :-)

ok, I tried this comet this evening and no way could I find/see it at all and I had a super horizon, so I'm now not sure if we're wasting our time on wednesday......

Weather is not looking good for
Wednesday evening but I did
manage to catch a look at PANSTARRS
today at about 7pm from Shannon RFC
grounds, albeit a brief and fleeting look
before the skies 1 and only cloud decided to cover
it... It was pretty bright but not much in the way of a tail
but definitely visible..
Tomorrow is looking like our best option to view this
before it starts to fade in Mag..

Cheers Roy :D :D

nah, sorry man, looks like you saw the same thing as myself , Frank and others on the ifas boards saw, a jet airliner catching the sun, a fair number of people saw this apparently !!
Reported views of the comet are barely making naked eye visibility if it all, many report you need binos to see it at all, and no one else in Ireland (IFAS) has seen it despite clear skies over alot of the country yesterday and alot of searching....
That plane particular had me fooled for s few seconds aswell, real bright, a tiny (almost no) tail, very comet like, right where I thought it might be visible, especially given the way the sun was catching it, I was thinking "wow", this is great, but then I noticed its colour was wrong and really it was just way too bright, and then a small while later it was gone when the cloud went away and no way could it have set by then.

Reported magnitudes are between +1 and +2, about 2-3 mags brighter then predicted, but not bright at all against a twilight sky....
even if its clear tomorrow evening, I'm not sure we'll see it with the naked eye tbh....
when you hear that people like Christoper Go in the Philippines cant yet see it with the naked eye, then yea, it might still bee too early yet, and its gonna fade big time starting this weekend :(
