Ohh I't hard being right all the time lads
I've looked at the photos I took last night and there are definatly NLC's
there (but the photo is bad as it was through the fence and really only a test just to confirm weather they were there or not)
Borderline mind you but there all right.
It's very easy to confuse these with just darker clouds against the dawn or sunset sky. But the real thing has a distinctive shape and colour more so.
Our friends in the North were on the ball as usual as we guessed!

looking froward to seeing the results.
We were saying to create shannonsideastronomy tags in Flikr.

At the same time as you by the sounds of it, we also watch Venus rise, we waited for Jupiter to be at a respectable altitude and we got a good view of it so we finished up at around 4.30.Frank Ryan wrote: sitting here looking at Venus rising in the East against a superb
dawn sky accompanied by the dawn chorus.
What time did ye pack up?
Earlier we got Saturn, the moon, M13, 92, 3, 10 globular clusters.
The Veil was alos great as was the dumbbell and veil. It stayed dark for about 2 hours and the sun was soon back up on the rise.

I actually got to bed at 5:30 and was up again to feed the wee man at 7:30.Dave Lillis wrote: At the same time as you by the sounds of it,
Caught some z's there this afternoon out the back garden but it looks like
I'm awake now again for the night / morning.
I was just on the points of ringing you to see could I call in to pick up the club 10''
off you when visitors arrived.
Tonight looks set to be clear again,
I've the ETX / Astrotrac combo set up outside trying to cool it down
(it's still really warm outside!)
NLC season seems to have arrived early so keep an eye out for them.

A great night it was indeed, the only issue was the 2 hours of limited night time, it gets dark at 12.30 and is bright again after 3, I suppose it'll be after july before we can give this a go again.
