Observing sessions Friday/Saturday 29/30 May

Post by Dave Lillis » Wed May 27, 2009 10:53 pm

Hi All,
The weather forecast is showing some seriously good weather for this weekend, so I'm planning on club observing session for both of these nights if it holds up.
Now a few things to consider, it doesn't get astronomically dark untill midnight so I'd say we'd be setting up at 9ish (we want to get Saturn before it sets) so you can see what you're doing, so it could be a long night.
Secondly, do we go for the Burren or Boher?, Burren will give us a perfect horizon for Jupiter later on in the night while Boher is nearer for most.

I dont know really, what do people think ?

I won't be around Friday but will try to make Sat.

I'm more likely to lean on Boher but I'm not that pushed

Friday or Saturday is OK for the moment. I would prefer Boher given the small amount of darkness available.

Lets hope it is as clear as last night. Managed to get the new 72mm refractor out to have a look at the moon. I was amazed how sharp it was.
