Sure..., why not. Moon will be out though. After the weather we have just had even a full moon will be a pleasant sight.

Right so...
we missed the last good night,
so lets keep posted for a clear spell in the next few weeks.

Actually,
a guy rang me off the back of the article in the Times
(the one Con posted on the IFAS site)
he was asking were we going to go to the Burren for the
Geminid meteor shower.

well its hard to predict what gonna happen, I was out last night for a small while and it was windy enough, I did hear the forecast say it would clear up but it also said it wouldnt last long with more cloud behind it.
Given our bad luck in recent times, there is no way I'm calling an observing session unless I know for absolute certain its gonna be clear, I'm tired of us all going out to be then clouded out, do that enough times and people will stop coming.
IF people really want to chance going out then call me and if I 'm persuadable then I'll send out the text alert.
There are a few more weekends yet this year anyway.

Guys'n Gals,
I know there are alot of clear skies out there at the moment, go out and observe if you can.
I'm reluctant to call an observing sesison with all the ice around, it was seriously dangerous on the roads over the past week or so with the vast majority of roads been ungritted making them like ice rinks.
But that doesnt mean you cant do it yourself in your back garden.
Anyway, we'll see how the week goes.

Agreed.
I've been out around West Clare during the icy weather and
even wit 4WD on it's dangerous.
Best to play it safe.

There is another cold snap on the way with -5 temps forecast!
Yay!

Guys'n Gals.
I know there are clear night this weekend, but I'm just too shattered this weekend to do anything, celebrating the new year and all that, shattered!
So do go out if you like and let us know how you get on.

Sounds like you had a good time Dave! :D
Na,
the weather although clear is just too bad for driving
late / early in the morning.

I've been down some crazy ass back roads
(following sat nav) and lost traction on a hill near
Broadfoard.
Fun, but once was enough.

I've been lucky with the fog here in Shannon which is unusual.

Shannon seemed to be spared. Sunghwa managed to fly out on Friday afternoon when Limerick up to the outskirts of Shannon were in thick fog. Blue skies in Shannon!!
She got caught in Heathrow though for 18 hours due to a technical problem on the new A380 Airbus.
