Monday looks good
Hey guys
Just checking through accuweather and it looks good for monday night at the Burren its gonna be a nice moonless night with Saturn rising about 11:30. It could be a chance for some of our newest members to view from 1 of Europes best dark sky sites.
Cheers Roy

by god Im gonna crack up unless I get some proper observing done soon.
So count me in for monday night if its clear.
A good nights observing, and thats me happy for a month or so.
I get permanently moody if I dont get a chance to use the big scope for a length of time.

well guys, what a great night, it started off perfectly clear, if hazed over slightly after 12 or so, but was ok for the brighter objects.
If you look at the satellite images, you can see it a haze band coming in off the atlantic at that time.
Finished up at 2.30-3 am, tired but worth it.
Roy, for moving the scope at home, have a look at

Tom,
The views from the lake were good even though we had heavy fog all the way between the site and the lake, but it was still slightly hazy there, just not as much. I had a look at the sat images this morning and there was alot stuff coming in from the atlantic for those times.
and yip, obsession isnt just a nickname for the scope, its the company who makes it

point been you need to be obsessed or nuts to get one.
only thing is that I dont think "nuts-telscopes" would make for a good marketing pitch.
one of the lads nicknamed it "the obsessionator" he said all who see it want one.
Glad to read Roy that the buggy is suitable, if youre handy at metal work you could probabily make one up.

It was mind blowing Frank. Already preparing for the next session. I bought a Dew-not strip heater and controller, my corrector plate started to freeze just as Saturn began to rise on Tuesday morning
That won't be happening again
Got some great views through the obsessionator, Thanks again Dave.

hey Tom,
I didnt mean to sound so unimpressed with the view of Saturn through your scope when it was on the horison, your scope has very good optics and is very capable of giving you an infinitely better view when the planet gets away from the horison, I guess thats what I was trying to get across but didnt do well..
For planets, the horison kills all.
great call on the dew heater band, its one o the best out there.
what controller did you get ?
Roy, those books are your new bible, explore them and learn them off
