some shots from 13th Sept 2009
I managed to take some shots last night (took Monday off from work so I could stay up late!!)
All of the shots were taken with a Canon 450D (unmodded with cls filter) through a WO Megrez 72 refractor piggybacked on a CGE11. All shots are unguided. Stacked in DSS and levels and curves in Gimp 2.0.
The processing is very crude so please forgive some of the images. The North American nebula came out much better than I expected for such a small instrument and an unmodded camera.

The CLS filter tends to give a greenish/ blue hue to some objects. It is only a problem on large diffuse objects like large galaxies where there is insufficient light to adjust the colour balance using software without losing the object. On bright galaxies it is not a problem.Conan Mc Donnell wrote:nice shots, i presume the cls gave andromeda that greenish hue.

You could always grayscale the image if the colour bothers you, make it black and white.
