So the decision was made to run this at the October meeting.
Well it's the weekend after next at this stage so we should get cracking on
working out who will be willing and able to do what.
I'll put myself down to man the 10'' on all 3 nights.
Who's up for the 12'' ? We could rotate nights if needs be.
We can send out a text to members to get them to bring in thier scopes
and also we need to send a press release to the radio and papers
to stir up interest
(the Clare papers were especially eager to run stuff last time)
we should also request that photographer to come out again,
she was very interested although not her home turf - maybe
a photographer from a limerick paper would be good.
Conan does not the Lmk leader owe you a favour over not
running the BSP press release?
We need to also think about having plenty of leaflets
(don't have to be big quarter A4 or someting - just with the club
logo and info about us & the IYA event (we are allowed to distribute
educational material)
We need one volunteer per scope (not the scope operator)
to be sure everyone that looks into the eyepiece gets one
and also records the numbers....
this is for the information needed for IYA.
Anyway...
lets get the ball rolling so....
who's up for it!?!?

well, lets make out a simple list of things to do..
Scope supervisors: Frank and possibly myself if no one wants to man the 12"
Print Leaflets:
Newspapers + radio:
Our own photographer:
I can bring a camera but dont have a tripod, if someone has a tripod I can use if for the 1-2 second exposures needed for the dark site, unlike last time we need to document this properly with proper pics of the event.
For the leaflets, a single A4 page cut in 2 would do? Remember to make 1 side of it educational, somehting about the night sky and a chart maybe?.
On the otherside, Club info and IYA info.
I can announce it on the IFAS boards with my observing directors hat on, if John/Gordon are ok with it.
We also need to decide on a start time, how's 8pm ??

Dave,
you may as well go ahead and announce this on the
IFAS boards if you wish.
We have the dates and 8PM start sounds reasonable.
We can take it from there then as regards PR.
You can also send a text to to club if you wish also
so people know in good time.
We can then send a 2nd one a few night before it as a reminder.

Gordon if you can send me the flyer when its finished i'll print it.
I'll send something to the leader with regard to the event and ask if they can send a photographer on one of the nights.
I won't be availble on the fri night beacuase Melissa is graduating and her whole family are staying with us that weekend.
I can just about squeeeeeeze the 12" in my car.
however, someone will have to take it off me for friday night or else do without it....
Frank if you could bring my tripod that would be nice.

Will do Conan.
There is a photographer / artist called Billy Hayes
contacted me.
I know him from years back and his work is great...
he's a little well..eccentric...but sound.
He's doing a series of shots taken of limerick people
doing what they do...
He want's to come along and work away.
He's happy for us to use any finished shots on the site
or to send to the papers...
