2009 GEMINID METEOR WATCH !+ OBSERVING SESSION SUNDAY NIGHT
Guys'n Gals,
On December 13-14 the geminids are going to peak, reports in recent years show that the peaks are increasing with an expected ZHR (Zenith Hourly Rate) of 140 under a dark sky this year.
I think we should try give this a go if the weather is look co-operative, especially since the moon will not be an issue, any takers ?

Carrying around my 20" obsession is going to kill me, but what a way to go.

Maximum is at 5.10 Monday morning of the 14th, so it'll be an all nighter/late night if its clear.

So weather permitting,
Boher or Burren?
My own preference would be Burren.
We have dark sky central on our doorstep
why not avail of it?
I just checked and 3 of the weather sites I use are
giving Sunday night to be clear , -1 / -2 .
Happy days if it stays true.

Simon,
I wonder would the Radio lads be interested in this?
Maybe we could have a collaboration?
I saw on an old Sky at Night programme Patrick did a meteor watch
and had some radio guys there and every time a meteor was detected there
was this cool 'ping',
shortly followed by lots of oohs and aahs.
Just a thought....
Here are some links...

Go ahead and contact the radio guys if you wish.
IF people want to go to the Burren, then grand,
to be honest if its real clear, then I'm bringing the scope.

Yep. If it's clear then you could get in a good bit of observing
with plenty of time for meteors.
I'd go to the Burren for that shot alone....
People all in a circle laying back on deckchairs looking up
with you in the middle up on a ladder at the scope with
your head down in the eyepiece!
Tagline - Dedication or Desperation?
I'm going to square away some stuff today to
have the time next Monday all goin' well.

Right guys,
I did some digging and found this
http://www.imo.net/
on that size there is an online observation submission form.

IF people are interest, they might print out the table from the second link and submit what they see.
