First Real Watch

I was down in Kerry over the weekend, in DÃºn Chaoin, right on the end of the Dingle peninsula. The seeing was fantastic, and although I didn't have my scope with me, I did get my hands on a decent set of binoculars, and had a good old gander.

I saw the Andromeda galaxy for the first time, with the help of a little pocket star guide. It was a profound experience, gazing on an entire galaxy, even if it was just a dim wisp. It is both a humbling and exhilarating feeling, and has me hooked on this wonderful hobby.

Hi Billy.
Yes, the first time you see these objects makes for memorable moments.
The Andromeda Galaxy is an awesome sight - even by naked eye.
But I always find it best in binos also.

Thats great stuff Billy,
We just dont have regular good weather for astronomy in the country, but when it is clear we have some of the best skies in Europe.
The sky is certainly amazing from a dark site.

The weather is threatening to be good this weekend.
If it is, we might hold a club observing session, we'll see.
